Rockbridge Youth Strings and Junior Ensemble

FAIR’s sponsorship of Rockbridge Youth Strings enables children to experience the joy of playing a musical instrument at a cost much less than private lessons.  Beginning and intermediate elementary school students study with Julia Goudimova after school.  This is the only public instruction in stringed instruments available in our area.  Ms. Goudimova leads the Junior Ensemble, an after school workshop for advanced and middle school students.

Julia Goudimova, Artistic Director

Cellist Julia Goudimova, was born in Moscow and studied cello with German Balyckbaev at Tiraspol College of Music and with Eugene Ksaveriev at Belarus Academy of Music, where she finished her Masters degree program in 1995.  She teaches cello privately and as an adjunct at Washington and Lee University.  She also directs the Rockbridge County High School Chorus and String Ensemble.  Julia performs with the Markbrook Trio, University Shenandoah Symphony Orchestra and the Rockbridge Community Symphony Orchestra.
